This piece was inspired by the Covid Wall on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. Visitors have covered it with hand-painted hearts to represent the people who have been lost to covid. Having watched friends and family suffer with Covid, and having helped some of them come to terms with losing loved ones to this dreadful disease, I wanted to celebrate the lives of those lost across the world, and ensure that we do not forget them. This embroidery is made from French knots; it took longer than I would have expected as I was suffering from repetitive strain injury in both wrists at the time. It took far longer than normal to get the treatment I needed, because of the pandemic, but now, thank goodness I can use my hands again.
