At the start, COVID-19 was frightening. No one had experienced anything like it in living memory. It changed the whole planet. Isolating from other people was not natural – a “no-entry” sign for the whole world. Yet the natural world carried on. We were lucky to have access to a garden and live near to open countryside, familiar, safe and comforting refuges in an uncertain world. We observed more keenly the seasons as they came and went, and we loved and embraced them: we walked through the seasons. Many hearts have been lost, and daily lives affected, but many hands have been there through the NHS, and in other different ways, to help and protect us and give us hope for the future. There has been a greater spirit of community and cooperation. Above all, for us, nature has been a saviour of mind and body. Let’s look after the natural world.
