This panel idea started with the centre Stay Safe at home with the Covid virus shut out by the circle of hearts. Lockdown was hard on the kids as they had moved in with us only a month before and we were all learning to live with each other, while their father went out to work being a key-worker. This is what I heard myself saying most days as the kids were feeling stir crazy and talked about being ‘Trapped at home’ which I turned to ‘Safe at home’. I then decided to make it more personal by depicting us as a family. Dad Angelo in his key worker uniform, me living in jeans and jumpers and each of them with a characteristic statement, Luca with his hair growing so long it covered his face, Lidia in her favourite jeans with the knees ripped out and Fallyn always wearing odd socks. And of course I included the family dog Roxie and cat Cicia. Together we made it through.
