In March 2020, the French President Macron, declared war (“Nous sommes en guerre”) against the new enemy, covid 19. The pandemic spread fast across the globe and with several lockdowns, our house, our home sweet home, became a whole world, where we were safe against the virus, a little bubble to protect us from ´the enemy´. People started to work from home and home schooling their children. The home became a restaurant, a bar etc where we socialized across a screen. It became a time and place for rest, for reflection and introspection, endings and new beginnings. The planet got a brief rest from us humans. The home also became a trap, women and children having to stay at home 24h/24, 7j/7 with an abusing partner/parent. We´ve seen an enormous increase in domestic violence since the beginning of the pandemic. UN Women calls this the shadow pandemic.
