I enjoy challenging projects and I’m pleased to present my “Lockdown Lifesavers” for The Covid Chronicle. I learned a lot during its creation. I took a more positive approach for my piece as I’d decided early on in the pandemic to focus on those aspects of life under my control for the sake of mental health. Thus family, friends, walks (with my #walk1000miles goal firmly in mind) and nature are to the fore, along with the sunny days we got used to during lockdown 1.0. I decided to limit my materials to those I’d gathered to help get through the dark winter days of lockdown 2.0.
We’ve had to make the best of what we have during these strange times. There are millions of words written about Covid-19 already, so I was drawn to a more visual representation – a shorthand if you like - of my experiences. The collaborative, virtual approach of The Covid Chronicle deftly echoes many aspects of the ‘new normal’ we find ourselves in. I also learnt to crochet with WI friends via Zoom, hence its inclusion here. I hope you enjoy “the fuzzy felt version with added crochet”!
