I needed the focus of creative hand stitching to help me through the Lockdowns. I started a daily stitch diary and also, when the words struck me, made random squares expressing my varying moods. The challenge to contribute towards the COVID square gave me the opportunity to choose four of these squares, plus a Lino cut portrait printed on fabric that I had made some time ago as the centre piece. I felt the face reflected my disapproval of my enforced life-style. I added some red thread on the black fabric to reinforce my expression of anger and dismay at the situation of isolation and helplessness. I work best when exploring strong feelings.
