Having done some cross stitch on my first panel it made me think of the samplers that used to be done by Victorian girls learning to sewing, these would usually have sayings on and other decorations. That then got me thinking of all the words we were using now that a year ago wouldn’t have had the same, if any, meaning to us. As I discussed it with family and friends the idea grew more words were added until I felt it had almost become a language of its own. And so this is my take on a Victorian style sampler ‘The Language of Covid’ , a centre panel of flowers and creatures surrounded by the words that the Covid pandemic had introduced to us.
