A personal journey through. Many people (dear friends & loving family) and activities (sewing scrubs, setting up Stitch & Chat online, sending kits to young embroiderers, even son’s A levels) helped me cope during lockdown and bereavement when my sister, my mother-in-law and two friends passed away within a year. I drew this design during the Great British Home Chorus, international YouTube daily sessions to help people cope with lockdown. I sang into my laptop with Gareth Malone during which my sister Molly was 6000 miles away in hospital for a month from stroke, before she passed away, June 2020, with only her son able to visit her a few times due to covid restrictions. I miss her dearly and dedicate this embroidery to her. My 91 year old Mom (Mum) is 6000 miles away; it has been 4 years since our last trip to see her. On the panel there is a red line between England and California representing the distance between us. Hopefully the miles away from loved ones can be shrunk with a world that is hurting together. Completed in machine embroidery and fabric paint on upcycled fabric & vintage lace trim.
