Whilst I was thinking about my personal response to the covid-19 pandemic, I agreed to stitch a title panel. This started with the idea of a world covered in covid. The globe is an abstracted view of the world, containing the most countries I could show whilst keeping to a circle. Around the globe I stitched the names of the countries, emphasising that this is truly a global event and that it would be much better if countries would work together instead of competing for vaccines etc. The idea of ‘world beating’ has been used throughout the UK’s response to the pandemic, an exclusive and selfish attitude. It would be nice if the early sentiments of looking out for each other could be continued but its strange how short-lived this appears to have been
