‘Connecting the Dots’ is the title of this work which I created for the Covid Chronicle. I started it in March and finished this embroidery in September 2021. In the meantime several new mutants were discovered. Every dot symbolizes one of the then known mutants of the COVID-19 virus. We as human beings are connecting the dots by passing on the virus to each other.

For me the lockdowns had a great influence on my life. As a sculptor I couldn’t go to my studio in the city so I started embroidering on fabrics I had already for a longtime. And I enjoyed it so much that now, coming out of the last lockdown my professional practice is more with fabric than clay or bronze. Sculpting in fabric is definitely a love to stay!
