Main theme of this contribution is being sick alone at home during lockdown and the helping aid of a vision of healing ancestors. March 2020: The evening before lockdown I became sick which only worsened. The night doctor came and made a likely diagnosis, that was it. Everything was closed from the next day on. Every other week the sickness seemed to present itself in a different manner. And this is where the imaginaries came: a) it felt like a sword stuck into my stomach, and then b) in a vision I saw myself lying under a ‘waringin’ tree spirit, here presented as a ‘bone tree’, and c) surrounded by my ancestors, here represented as one blue woman. The stripes are form a nightgown which resembles the bars form the outer world. While working on this panel these words came to me and are now embroidered around: In the land of the bone trees / Only held together with the ties f hope / And the persisting force of our ancestors.
