I appreciate this creative opportunity to share thoughts. Making sense of the pandemic year. Sewing my square was cathartic. Still fearful and often fearful, nervous of people and places. So self-centred when I think of others’ tragedies, senseless wars and the disastrous effects of climate change and the madness of politics. Covid brought out the worst and the best. The dedication of the NHS and the application of science. The strangeness of empty roads and skies. I didn’t lose any family or close friends. I had my husband, my garden, the wonderful birdsong and abundance of wildlife and good neighbours. Enjoying and missing the routine of work. My square is a world adrift, shrouded in mist, the scarlet representing the possible source of misery. But searching for clear blue skies and sunshine.
